The two main types of concrete pumps are boom pumps and line pumps. Boom pumps feature a hydraulic arm capable of reaching difficult-to-access areas, making them ideal for larger or more complex foundation layouts. This extended reach can help accommodate varying site conditions and unusual building configurations, allowing concrete to be placed efficiently across multiple areas without requiring extensive manual handling. Operators can adjust the arm's position to ensure that every section of the foundation receives proper coverage, which can help maintain an even surface and consistent thickness throughout. Line pumps use hoses to deliver concrete over shorter distances, suitable for smaller-volume pours or tight spaces. Their flexibility allows teams to navigate around obstacles and confined areas while still achieving smooth, consistent placement. This type of pump can be moved and set up in different locations on site as needed, making it a practical choice for projects with variable layouts or incremental foundation pours.

In addition to providing protection, stem walls also contribute to the overall strength of a building’s foundation. According to This Old House, the weight of an average foundation is seven and a half tons, indicating the enormous pressure that these structures must endure. Stem walls help distribute this weight evenly, preventing undue stress on any single part of the building. This distribution is crucial in mitigating risks associated with uneven settling, which can lead to structural issues over time. Quality construction services ensure proper installation of stem walls to avoid these problems.

Another significant advantage of stem walls is their adaptability to various terrains and building designs. Whether constructing on a slope or a flat surface, stem walls can be customized to suit specific needs. They are often combined with other foundation types, such as slab or crawl space foundations, to achieve optimal performance. This versatility makes them an appealing choice for architects and builders aiming for durable and resilient structures, especially in challenging environments.

One of the primary reasons homeowners consider helical piers is due to their reliability in preventing and addressing foundation problems. According to Clever, about 25% of homeowners in the United States will encounter structural issues. This staggering statistic underscores the importance of having a reliable solution in place! Helical piers provide the support needed to counteract soil movement and help prevent further damage to property structures, especially in areas prone to soil instability.

Another significant advantage of helical piers is their versatility. They can be used for both residential and commercial buildings and are effective in a variety of soil conditions, including clay, sand, silt, and more. The installation process is quick and can be performed in tight or limited access areas, making them a flexible solution for diverse project needs. Helical piers are also designed to provide long-lasting support, often outliving the structures they stabilize.

Are you looking for expertise from local construction companies? In this article, we discuss the three foundation repair ideas to consider for your old home.

For homeowners with older properties, foundation issues can be a significant concern. With the passage of time, natural elements, and settling, the structural integrity of an old home might be compromised. Addressing foundation problems early is key to preserving your property’s value and ensuring safety. Here are three foundation repair ideas for your home!

1. Address Structural Concerns with Pier Installation

One of the most common methods of foundation repair involves the use of piers. Helical and push piers are driven deep into the ground to reach stable soil layers, offering substantial support to the foundation above. This method is particularly useful for homes situated on unstable or shifting soils. Moreover, according to Today's Homeowner, foundation repair services can cost anywhere from $2,000 to $8,000, depending on the extent of the damage. Partnering with experienced

ensures that the right pier system is selected and properly installed.

2. Consider Deep Foundation Solutions

Another effective foundation repair approach is utilizing deep foundation solutions. These methods address stability issues by transferring a structure’s load to deeper, more stable soil or bedrock. Common techniques include helical piers and push piers, which are driven deep into the ground to support and lift the foundation. Many construction companies recommend these solutions because they provide long-term stability, prevent further settling, and are effective for structures built on weak or shifting soil. This approach ensures a secure foundation, protecting the integrity of the building for years to come.

3. Prevent Future Issues With Stem Walls

For homes built on stem wall foundations, proactive maintenance is essential to prevent structural issues. Over time, exposure to moisture and soil movement can cause cracks, spalling, or even weakening of the wall’s integrity. Applying waterproof coatings, reinforcing the concrete with rebar, and addressing minor cracks early can help maintain stability. Many construction companies specialize in stem wall repairs and can recommend the best solutions based on a home’s specific needs. While this may require an initial investment, it helps prevent more extensive and costly foundation problems in the future.

Maintaining the integrity of your old home's foundation is essential for ensuring its longevity, safety, and value. By considering repair solutions such as pier installation, stem walls, and deep foundation services, you can address current issues and prevent future damage. Consulting with professional construction companies helps ensure that the work is done correctly, giving you peace of mind and a stable foundation for years to come. Take the time to evaluate your home’s needs, and choose a solution that best suits your situation. Contact Keller Construction Group, Inc for more information today!

3 Reasons Why You May Need Concrete Pumping Services

There are a few reasons why you may need to invest in concrete pumping services. Keep reading or contact us today to learn more.

Concrete pumping services have become increasingly popular in construction projects, both large and small. Whether you're dealing with a high-rise building or a residential driveway, these services can provide significant advantages over traditional methods of concrete placement. Let's explore several reasons why you might consider using concrete pumping services for your next project.

           1. Efficient Concrete Placement

One of the most compelling reasons to opt for concrete pumping is the efficiency it brings to concrete placement. Traditional methods can be time-consuming and labor-intensive, often requiring a crew of workers to manually pour and spread the concrete. In contrast, concrete pumps can swiftly and precisely deliver the material exactly where it is needed, reducing labor costs and time spent on the job site. This increased efficiency can lead to faster project completion, which is crucial in meeting tight construction deadlines.

           2. Handling Large Volumes of Concrete

For projects that require large volumes of concrete, like foundations or large slabs, concrete pumping is an ideal solution. According to This Old House, the weight of an average foundation is 7.5 tons, emphasizing the need for efficient handling and placement of large quantities of concrete. Concrete pumps are designed to handle such substantial weight and volume, providing a seamless delivery process. This ensures an even distribution of concrete, which is essential for the structural integrity of large projects.

           3. Access to Difficult-to-Reach Areas

Construction sites are often challenging environments with restricted access. Whether it's a building with multiple stories or a site with narrow spaces, concrete pumping services can effectively overcome these accessibility issues. Pumps equipped with boom arms and hoses can reach places that traditional pouring methods cannot, delivering concrete over, under, or through obstacles. This capability not only makes previously difficult placements possible but also enhances the safety of the workers involved by minimizing the need for manual handling in precarious locations.

3 Reasons to Never Avoid Deep Foundation Repair Services

Here are three reasons you should never avoid necessary deep foundation repairs. If you ever notice signs of damage, reach out to our team for help!

Homeowners may fear the idea of deep foundation repair because of costs. However, not fixing the problem can be far more costly. According to Bob Vila, you can expect to pay as much as $20,000 for repairs to a slab foundation. That cost can be a drop in the bucket compared to the damage you can experience without making repairs. Here are three reasons you should never avoid necessary deep foundation repairs.

           1. Structural Damages

Your home's foundation is, as the name indicates, the foundation of everything in your home. Once the foundation is compromised, every other structure in your home is at risk. This includes structures from your roof to your basement.

Deep foundation repair can correct the problem and prevent structural failure. A sinking or shifting foundation risks walls, ceilings, floors, windows, doors, and more. Addressing the problem can put an end to the risks.

           2. Worsening Problem

If you suspect your foundation has problems, the best thing to do is call for professional help early on. Early interventions and repairs can help reduce costs. It can also help reduce the risk of further damage. Several things can cause foundation problems including leaks or poor drainage in and around the home.

Regardless of what is causing the problem, the results will be the same. The problem will get worse with time and become more expensive to repair. The sooner you get help, the better. It will reduce risk and save you money.

           3. Safety Issues

If your home needs deep foundation repair and you ignore it, you risk the occupant's safety. The safety risks range from trip hazards on uneven floors to potential partial collapse. A home with a foundation problem is an unsafe home. Foundation repair can't be ignored.

Many areas become unsafe when a foundation issue is present. Opening a window or a door can prove to be a safety hazard. Addressing the problem can restore your home to a haven for you and your family.

Don't let the fear of the cost keep you from getting the help you need. The sooner you assess the problem professionally, the sooner you will have a safe home. It may be more affordable than you think to have

3 Projects Construction Companies Can Assist Homeowners With

This post reviews how construction companies can help with your projects. Take a look to learn more about these projects and some of the ways we can help you.

Because homeowners reside on properties over the years, small defects start to appear that need repairs. Several categories of large-scale issues or necessary upgrades often surface, which can't be done without the help of professional services. These massive structural and foundational projects demand experienced commercial construction outfits equipped for successful job completion. According to Clever, around 25% of American homeowners will encounter structural issues with their homes. So, knowing which areas legitimately call for expertise from construction companies helps homeowners ensure lasting, building-enhancing results without unnecessary risks or expenses.

1. Support Structures Properly

Have multiple areas of visibly sinking concrete begun plaguing your property's visible exterior surfaces? This is an indicator of foundational issues that could be affecting the structural integrity of your home. Before extensive cracking compromises any buildings, reputable

thoroughly examine the subsurface to identify probable causes. If overly saturated soils, insufficiently compacted backfill, or large underground karst formation openings undermine stability, their geology crews know immediately. Powerful excavators plus specialized high-capacity hydraulic pile driving equipment provide the support to reinforce destabilized areas from below or install deeply embedded helical piers across trouble spots, lifting and re-securing what current supports can no longer sustain.

Sturdy, artistic block wall barriers surrounding your property provide security plus durable exterior infrastructure when done properly — unlike flimsy fencing vulnerable to winds and human intrusion. Construction teams specializing in traditional masonry build lasting integrity by calculating necessary reinforcement specifications, establishing vital drainage components, and artistically incorporating custom patterns and colors. This expertise intricately aligns and places each section seamlessly.

Beautiful backyard visions call for spacious elevated decks. But these rest entirely upon meticulously designed and constructed subsurface retaining walls, sufficiently anchored support beams, and pillars resisting lateral forces over time. Companies certified in remote crane lifting allow crews to lift heavy materials high overhead without having to first build temporary nearby ramp access. This equipment flexibility safely installs essential reinforced substructures before fabricating gorgeous weather-resistant decking solidly secured above. With their invaluable expertise, your home investment will stand soundly and stay safe.
Projects involving excavating, lifting, intricate masonry, and other precarious techniques clearly fall outside most homeowners' skill comfort levels and physical safety boundaries. If you're experiencing one or more of these issues and need help, reach out to Keller Construction Group, Inc today.

           What Is Deep Foundation Work?

Deep foundations are used to transfer the structure's load deep into the ground. This helps to create a stable structure. Driven piles and drilled piers are two different types of deep foundations that are available. Driven piles are steel, concrete, or timber piles that are driven deep into the earth; drilled piers use a helical screw system. This is penetrated into the earth before the construction of the foundation begins.

           Why Are Deep Foundations Important?

This type of construction is used to achieve greater structural integrity if soil conditions aren't solid enough for a regular foundation. When soil is questionable, or compressible, this is a way to continue a construction project safely. This type of foundation is also vital if a structure will have a large load to support. These are essential for providing strength and stability for the final building. This type of foundation also makes a structure more safe in the long run.

can assist you if you're building a structure in an area where soil conditions are questionable or where extreme weather events are common. A deep foundation will create an anchor against the forces of nature so that a building can maintain its structural integrity during high winds. It's also helpful in preventing ground moisture from rising and damaging the building as well.

What Is Concrete Pumping?

How do project contractors make the best use of concrete? Read this article to learn about what concrete pumping is and how it can benefit your next project!

What Is Concrete?

Concrete is one of the most used building products when it comes to new construction here in the United States. The reason being that it has a higher moisture resistance and is a solid product to help survive the elements and fight against aging as the years go by.

Concrete is a mix of water, cement, and aggregate. The aggregate can include sand, and a rock mix. The aggregate’s purpose is to reduce the amount of mix of cement but bring the durability of the concrete higher. The water and cement are one of the most vital parts to this blend, due to the fact it causes a chemical reaction to stiffen the entire mix to form the finished solid product.

Because concrete, at first, is the likes of a liquid there is certain way to pump through a hose to place in the desired location to settle. The aggregate will settle to the bottom as some of the water starts to rise to the surface. The Concrete Finishers will then be able to level and smooth the concrete, then leave it to solidify. The Concrete Finishers will also smooth the surface to give a consistent and appealing finish to the concrete.

How Does Concrete Pumping Work?

The way the concrete is pumped is left up to the operator, on how fast to push the concrete through the hoses and into the desired location. There are multiple pump systems, the ones we use are trailer pumps and boom pumps. The pump is a hydraulic system that uses high pressure to push the concrete mix through a set of hoses. This will make the process of pouring easier, safer and quicker.

The trailer pumps are more suitable for small pours and a closer location to the desired area for the concrete to be poured. The types of trailers vary and there are two main types to handle a certain kind of mix. The trailer for the a big-rock mix can also handle the a small-rock mix, but the trailer for small-rock

handle the big-rock mix. The boom pump is most used for much larger pours, longer reach for desired pour location, and elevated areas to pour. The two types of boom pumps we use have the capability to extend and reach either 38 meters or 40 meters away from the pump itself.

To operate the trailer and boom pumps there must be plenty of training and safety involved. It may not seem like it but there are plenty of dangers that can come from concrete pumping. Here at Keller Construction, we strive to put safety and quality of work first. Our company has over 30 years of experience when it comes to concrete pumping and masonry.

is an essential component of any building, providing a stable and strong base for the structure. The foundation of a home is what supports the weight of the entire building, ensuring that it remains upright and stable. According to This Old House, the average foundation weighs 7.5 tons. Here is more information that you should know about a home's foundation.

           What Is It?

A deep foundation is used when the soil near the surface is not strong enough to support the weight of a building. In these cases, the foundation needs to be dug deeper into the soil, where the soil is stronger and more stable. There are two common types to note: pile foundations and drilled shaft foundations.

           Why Is It Important?

A deep foundation is essential for any building, as it provides a stable and strong base for the structure. Without one, the building may settle or even collapse, causing damage or injury. A foundation with greater depth also helps to distribute the weight of the building evenly across the soil, reducing the risk of soil failure or subsidence.

           What Are the Different Types?

A pile foundation consists of long, slender columns that are driven into the ground. The piles are made of various materials, including concrete, steel, and wood. Pile foundations are ideal for buildings that are constructed on unstable soil or on slopes. They can also be used to transfer the weight of the structure to a deeper, more stable layer of soil.

A drilled shaft foundation consists of a cylindrical hole that is drilled into the soil. The hole is then filled with concrete, which forms the foundation for the building. Drilled shaft foundations are used when the soil is too hard for pile foundations, or when the building is constructed on top of rock.

This type of foundation is an essential component of any building, providing a stable and strong base for the structure. If you are planning to build a home or renovate an existing one, it is important to consult with a professional engineer or contractor to determine your specific needs. A properly constructed deep foundation can help to ensure the safety and stability of your home for years to come. Do You Have the Necessary Credentials and Warranties?

When searching for a deep foundation contractor, it's always important to get assurance that you're working with a legitimate entity. During your initial interview with a contractor, ask them about their license and insurance. Check if everything is in order before you proceed. This is also a good time for you to inquire about the warranty the company provides. Ask about the terms of the warranty, and determine if it makes sense for your desired project.

What Kind of Experience Do You Have When It Comes to Laying Deep Foundation?

Laying a deep foundation is a complex undertaking. If you hire a contractor without adequate training and experience, they might not lay the foundation correctly. Seek out a deep foundation contractor with considerable experience so you can be certain that they'll do the job right.

How Much Do You Expect the Project to Cost?

It's also important to ask the contractor about their expected cost for the project. Once you have an estimate, you can use that as a point of comparison as you interview other contractors. Keep in mind that, according to HomeAdvisor, homeowners typically pay around $4,640 for foundation repair.

How Long Do You Expect the Project to Take?

Lastly, you should ask the contractor about their projected timeline for the project. Laying a deep foundation is one of the earliest tasks involved in building, so you'll need to get it done as soon as possible in order to proceed with the rest of the project in a timely manner. Ask the contractor about their timeline so you can coordinate with your other building partners. You can start putting your building schedule together once you have an idea of what to expect.
